From the Editor: Systematic AI Education
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most demanded skills in the technology world but talent remains incredibly scarce. This is a combination of the high entry point required to master machine learning skills and the effort required to stay current in this rapidly changing space. Who has time to regularly read long AI research papers? or test the new frameworks and platforms entering the space. If you are a new developer or aspiring data scientist, where do you even get started? This challenge overwhelms individuals as well as companies trying to become more proficient in AI topics.
Recently, we have been very intrigued by the idea of taking a systematic approach to AI education in which you can spend a few mins every day getting familiar with a new research effort, technology or simply understanding a concept relevant to AI applications. You know, the old cognitive theory that if you spend a few mins every day doing something you can become extremely proficient over a long period of time. We have been working on a few ideas in this area that, hopefully, we will be able to share with you soon.
Now let’s take a look at the core developments in AI research and technology this week.
