In today’s engineering section we are going to deep dive into one of the hottest new stacks to hit the market: OpenAI’s recent release of agentic development tools.

In a nutshell, OpenAI has recently introduced a suite of advanced tools for building AI agents, marking a significant evolution in AI application development. These tools provide developers with a robust framework for creating autonomous AI agents that operate effectively across diverse domains. Today, we would like to dive into the core architecture of this stack as well as some of the key capabilities.

Architectural Overview

The newly designed ecosystem integrates these components to enable seamless AI agent functionality. At its core, the Responses API serves as a unified interface that combines the simplicity of Chat Completions with the functionality of the Assistants API. This integration offers native tool chaining with automatic state management, real-time streaming for interactive experiences, and support for GPT-4o search models, which achieve approximately 90% factual accuracy.
