💥 What’s New in AI: Foundation Models are Creating the Industrial Era of AI

In recent months, we have seen a crazy proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) applied to consumer and business needs. Not a week goes by in which we don’t hear about new applications leveraging models like GPT-3, DALL-E, or Stable Diffusion in all sorts of engaging scenarios. From an outsider’s perspective, it might seem that all AI applications rely on versions of the same few models. The AI community has already found a new term to refer to this phenomenon: foundation models. Remember that term because it will likely unleash a new era of innovation in AI applications. Recently, I’ve been using the analogy of foundation models as the industrial era of AI.
