💥 What’s New in AI: Inside DeepMind’s AlphaTensor, The New Super Model that can Discover New Math Algorithms

DeepMind applies artificial intelligence (AI) to some of the hardest problems in science. Protein building, weather predictions, nuclear fusion, and ancient inscription restoration are just some of the monumental efforts tackled by DeepMind’s AI research efforts. Now we should add a new category to that list: mathematical algorithm discovery. Last week, DeepMind published a paper in the prestigious scientific magazine Nature unveiling AlphaTensor, a neural network that was able to discover a new algorithm for matrix multiplication. Let’s dive deeper.
